3D-Micromac takes over direct sales of its own manufactured ophthalmic system solutions from Laser 2000

Marketing and sales of the system solutions for the labeling of ophthalmic and contact lenses previously performed by Laser 2000 GmbH will be directly done by the manufacturer of the machines, 3D-Micromac AG.

From May 1, 2014, the marketing and sales of laser systems for labeling ophthalmic lenses will be directly done by the manufacturer of these systems. Service of the systems will continue to be provided by cooperation. This has been announced by Laser 2000 GmbH, Wessling and 3D-Micromac AG, Chemnitz.

The first laser marking systems with excimer lasers had been developed by Laser 2000 and were successfully marketed since 1999. Since 2004, 3D-Micromac has been encouraging the further development of the MC-Flexc laser systems to realize top-quality and permanent marking of ophthalmic lenses. The market demand for systems for temporary marking of the lenses resulted into the development of the MC-Jet systems. The marking of the lenses is done here via an inkjet printing system. In addition, since 2010, the common product was extended to the laser systems for permanent marking of contact lenses.

With more than 200 systems installed worldwide and a market share of approximately 80 percent of all laser systems for the premium marking of ophthalmic and contact lenses, Laser 2000 and 3D-Micromac AG could establish itself as a market leader in this area.

According to the agreement and after ten years of joint collaboration, the marketing and development of the technology is handed over to 3D-Micromac AG. With this new strategy, the two companies are responding to the needs of the market.

3D-Micromac AG has become one of the leading suppliers of highly efficient laser micromachining systems as well innovative coating and printing technologies on the international market since its foundation in 2002.
